Surface preparation

Clean the surface of dirt, dust, delamination and remove from concrete formwork residues. Remove projections, protect metal elements from corrosion. The substrate must be dry and sound, with a temperature not lower than +5 ° С.

Padding In order to avoid uneven setting of the mortar, the plastered surfaces are treated with a KNAUF-Mittelgrund primer diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 3, or with a Knauf-Multigrund primer.

Masonry made of silicate bricks and aerated concrete blocks is primed

Knauf-Mittelgrund, diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 4 and 1: 5 respectively, or KNAUF-Multigrund. Dense, smooth, slightly absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces such as concrete, cement plasters, tongue-and-groove and expanded polystyrene plates, are treated with a primer KNAUF-Betokontakt or KNAUF-Betogrund to improve the adhesion (adhesion) of the plaster to the surface.

Allow the primer to dry after application: Knauf-Mittelgrund and Knauf-Multigrund - 6 hours, Knauf-Betokontakt - 12 hours,  KNAUF-Betogrund - 2 hours.

Avoid dusting the primed surface.

ATTENTION! Knauf does not guarantee the quality and durability of the resulting surface in case of application soils from other manufacturers.

Installation of beacon profiles

On the surface of the base after 30 cm, apply in small portions mortar mixture KNAUF-MP 75, into which beacon profiles are pressed, aligning them in the same plane. The pitch of the profiles should not exceed the length of the rule.

Installation of protective corner profiles

Mortar mixture Knauf-MP 75 apply in small portions on the inside of the corner profiles in 30 cm increments. Install profiles at corners in the same plane with the beacon profiles, pressing each from the middle to the edges.

Consumption of materials

Material consumption is indicated for approximately 1 sq. m surface excluding losses.

KNAUF-MP 75 kg 8–9 / m2 with a plaster layer thickness of 10 mm

KNAUF-Betokontakt kg 0.23 / m2

Knauf-Mittelgrund kg 0.05 / m2

 One bag of dry mix (30 kg) is enough for plastering ~ 3.0 sq. m of surface.

Work order

Preparation of plaster mortar

Machine plastering work is carried out, as a rule, as part of a team of plasterers. Prepare plastering machine to work according to the instruction manual. Add dry mixture

Knauf-MP 75 in the hopper of the plastering machine. Set consumption water entering the pump in accordance with the required consistency solution.

Plastering mortar

Apply the solution to the surface to be plastered, observing following rules:

■ the mortar gun must be held perpendicular to the surface to be treated at a distance of about 30 cm (to the nozzle);

■ adjust the thickness of the applied layer by the speed of movement gun: the slower the movement, the thicker the layer of plaster, and vice versa;

■ plastering the wall should be done in the direction to the left to the right and TOP DOWN (starting from the upper left corner), forming grips with a width of about 70 cm.In this case, the pistol should be guided so that, with reciprocating movements, the center of the plaster spray is at the lower edge of the applied solution;

■ each subsequent grip should be applied overlapping the previous one 5-10 cm on the left side;

■ Apply the solution to the ceiling surface starting on the side opposite to the windows with a layer of no more than 15 mm;

■ after applying the solution to the entire surface, close the air a valve on a mortar gun (the solution supply stops);

CAUTION: The solution must not be in the hoses and mixer. in a stationary state for more than 15 minutes.

■ perform leveling of the applied mortar using the h-rule. If work is carried out without installing beacons, check the deviation of the surface from the horizontal and vertical using a level, lace or pattern. Apply additional a layer of solution where it is not enough.

ATTENTION: Applying an additional layer to the walls is possible if no more than 30 minutes have passed since the start of the previous application. Otherwise the second apply a layer after hardening and drying of the first one. The first layer must be primed Knauf-Mittelgrund, diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 3, or KNAUF-Multigrund. After drying primer (min. 6 hours) apply a second plaster layer. Plaster ceilings only in one layer with a thickness of no more than 15 mm. Plaster the bases made of DSP and expanded polystyrene with reinforcement over the entire surface with a fiberglass mesh with a cell of 5 × 5 mm. Consumption mesh approximately 1.2 sq. m per sq. m of surface (taking into account overlap). Also, reinforcement is performed in places joints of dissimilar materials (for example, bricks and concrete, etc.) by pressing in strips of fiberglass mesh into freshly applied plaster.

Surface leveling

As soon as the plaster starts to set (after about 90-120 minutes after mixing), level the surface with a metal trapezoidal strip or a wide metal spatula, cutting off the excess and filling the grooves. Irregularities in corners and slopes cut with a plastering plane. After drying to such a surface you can glue ceramic tiles with Knauf-Flisen glue, after pretreating the surface with a deep penetration primer KNAUF-Tiefengrund. In places of direct contact

KNAUF-Flechendicht waterproofing must be applied to the water tile.

For tiling over waterproofing, adhesives are used:

KNAUF-Flisen Plus, KNAUF-Flex, KNAUF-Marble. The minimum thickness of the plaster layer for gluing ceramic tiles is 10 mm.

Grouting and smoothing the surface If the surface is prepared for painting with a roller or wallpapering, then after a short exposure after trimming (after 15-20 minutes) the surface of the plaster must be treated with a spatula, removing minor deviations from the plane remaining after trimming.

Then (after 15–20 minutes) moisten with water and rub in a circular motion with a hard spongy or felt float, removing any irregularities and traces from previous stages of processing. After a short exposure until a matte surface appears (about 10-15 minutes after wetting), smooth the plaster with stainless steel trowel or spatula with wide strokes. On such a surface wallpaper can be glued. To achieve a glossy finish, necessary after 4-5 hours, but no more than a day after the start application, re-moisten the plaster abundantly and smooth it again metal trowel or wide spatula. After such treatment, it is not required to putty the surface of the plaster, it is suitable for applying textured paint. After smoothing the surface of the ceilings, cut the unhardened plaster layer with a stukzege saw to the full depth along the entire perimeter of the room to prevent cracking.

For fast drying of the plaster, it is necessary to ensure good ventilation and absence of drafts in the room. Not allowed direct the heat gun at the plastered surface. Before by applying a decorative coating, treat the plaster surface with a KNAUF-Tiefengrund primer. Mixing water temperature dry mix should be within the range from +5 ° C to +30 ° C. Warmer water impairs the water-holding capacity of the plaster and can cause cracks in the plaster. Contaminated tools shorten the use of the plaster solution, immediately after work they should be washed with water. Rinse the plastering machine according to the operating instructions. Water temperature for dilution of the dry mixture should be within the range from +5 ° C to +30 ° C. More warm water impairs the water retention capacity of the plaster mortar and can cause cracks in the plaster.

Contaminated containers and tools shorten use time plastering solution, immediately after work they should be washed with water.
